Adult Ballet
No previous experience necessary
Designed for any over 18 who has always wanted to try a ballet class, those who maybe did some small amount of ballet when younger or even did a little more and want to slowly return the graceful dance style they loved.
There will be a range of abilities and experience in the class but I will ensure that from the pure novice to the most experienced everyone will feel included. I will begin with the very basics of arm and leg positions, the finer points of good posture and the technique of all the movements we will do.
I will usually start the class with a foot and stretch warm up to ensure that the feet and legs are fully prepared for the class. Having completed that we move to the Barre and gently work through a small range of barre exercises that are simple combinations to limber the legs and arms and stretch the muscles.
Moving from the barre to the centre we will work on the graceful Port de Bras – the carriage of the arms and progressing to an understanding of turns (Pirouette) and simple jumps. The pace of the class will depend on the ability of the group but the whole class will feel the benefits of ballet – stretching the muscles, toning the legs, improved posture, balance and coordination. Its never too late to take up ballet, I have often found that it has been a lifelong dream so seize the day and come along .
